NEW YORK — In electrifying its flagship Escalade franchise, Cadillac loaded the battery-powered full-size SUV with luxury creature comforts, a long-range battery and advanced technology.

Cadillac said the 2025 Escalade IQ, unveiled here Wednesday, is General Motors‘ most aerodynamic full-size SUV, which contributes to a GM-estimated 450-mile range. The $130,000 Escalade IQ reflects Cadillac’s all-electric future, but it will be sold alongside the gasoline-powered version for some time as consumer demand for EVs evolves.

The electric version has Escalade DNA and yet also aims to carve out a unique identity. Here are six cool features on the Escalade IQ.

Enjoy watching a GMC Hummer EV CrabWalk its way out of a tight space? Cadillac is introducing its own version, Arrival Mode, on the Escalade IQ. Delivered via an over-the-air software update, Arrival Mode allows all four wheels to turn at the same time, making “pulling in or out of tight spaces way less stressful,” said Mandi Damman, the Escalade IQ’s chief engineer. Four-wheel steering also reduces the large SUV’s turn diameter by more than 6.5 feet, helping to improve maneuverability.

To achieve its long range, engineers and designers focused on making the Escalade IQ as aerodynamic as possible. The drag coefficient is about 15 percent lower than previous generations of the Escalade, and designers honed in on small details to cut out wind resistance, from smoothing out the underbody to the design of the 24-inch wheels. They look like they’re “a work of art,” said Damman, but “air moves past those wheels as if it’s a flat wall.”

Inspired by Cadillac’s new halo EV, the ultraluxury Celestiq sedan, a 55-inch curved display screen stretches from pillar to pillar inside the Escalade IQ cabin. Cadillac said it’s underpinned by Qualcomm Technologies’ Snapdragon Cockpit Platform and features Google built-in technology, including hands-free navigation and voice commands. The screen enables virtual smart controls, such as a universal remote control that can pair with up to eight different devices, including a garage door or gate, Cadillac said.

Riding in the second row gets more comfortable with an Executive Second Row package. Second-row passengers gain access to their own command center screen, wireless charging pads, 12.6-inch personal screens and massaging seats. An AKG audio system reserves the most speakers — 40 in all — for Escalade IQs that have the Executive Second Row package, which includes speakers in the headrests.

For the 2025 model year, Cadillac will enable bidirectional charging on the Escalade IQ through an over-the-air software update, allowing the EV to power a home. That capability will be offered on all of GM’s EVs by 2026. Additionally, an offboard power system can charge outside devices. And the Escalade IQ can accept 800-volt fast charging, which Cadillac said can put 100 miles of range back on the battery in 10 minutes.

Without the need for an internal combustion engine, some automakers have converted the front compartment of their EVs into storage. Cadillac put the freed-up space in the Escalade IQ to use with the “eTrunk.” With 12.2 cubic feet of storage, it’s big enough to hold two golf bags, Caddy said.
